[ There seem to be two Pokemon on this dispatch! You get a sense of both a Hisuian Typhlosion AND a Hisuian Zoroark, though the perspective is a little dizzying before settling down into (mostly) one psychic perspective. The Typhlosion's, probably; it's mostly his perspective with a vague sense of what he thinks he looks like now. Psychic pearls are hard, who knew? ]

Good afternoon, fellow passengers! I am Ingo, and this is Emmet - my brother.

[ So so smooth, it comes so naturally to introduce someone as his family member! ]

We are both from a world with Pokemon originally! We were humans there, and I'm afraid we do not have any idea how this might have happened - this is not the sort of thing that is supposed to be possible! But we would like to offer our help in navigating these new tracks! Between the two of us, we can help to identify your species and typing, as well as other facts about your new forms! We are also both very familiar with Pokemon battling! If you wish to learn to fight, we can provide assistance! I'm very excited to have battles in this new way, and the more people who can participate, the more fun it will be!

[ The perspective warps and shifts a bit, as you see Emmet moving forward, and also Emmet's own perspective as he does so. ]

[ Emmet, it seems, is a man of much fewer words than his brother! At least when they're in the same space, anyway. His address is also smooth, very smooth, picking up after Ingo's like clockwork.

... for those who have already met them both and / or have heard at least some amount of their circumstances already, isn't there some kind of explanation missing? Oh well, must not be important. ]

[They'll be along eventually! The brothers keep pace with each other easily, Ingo trotting along at Emmet's side, pleased that the task of walking on two legs has slowed him down a bit. Zoroark are much faster than Typhlosion!]

[Wow, peeled Cubone is weirder to see in person...]

[ Just because he can do it does not mean this whole 'walking while holding the pearl' thing doesn't feel weird, for the record. He keeps wanting to drop forward and just get there faster already, but. ]

I am Emmet. And you are the interesting Cubone. Hello.

[ Peeled Cubone... ]

[Well, he supposes this is part of pokemon life now- this part where occassionally he has to look very far up to properly see anyone's face.

It doesn't help that he's a bit small for a cubone.]

Hello! [the boy greets at any rate, a nod coming with the words.] Uh...

Oh. I didn't introduce myself huh... Um, my name is Emporio, [the cubone says- with yet another nod.] And you're Emmet, and...

That makes you Ingo, right?

[You're both quite tall, he does not say, in part because everyone is fairly tall when you're only a foot yourself.]

[Hm. He's used to teaching newbie trainers and Pokemon, but not usually from this position...]

I suppose we ought to see what you have learned on your own first! Do you know how to use any moves yet?

Easy to forget sometimes. [ to introduce yourself, that is. ] It's fine.

[ If it helps, Emporio, they're less tall when on all fours? Though the fox is going to yawn and stretch himself out a bit, paws splayed out in front of him (though the one holding the pearl remains facing upward to keep it from contact with the ground), as he drops down and back into a very feline looking stretch.

Hmm, maybe he should look into getting a satchel of some sort... He can hang on to the pearl for now with Ingo currently handling the bulk of interacting-with-people duties, but Emmet's alert and waiting for Emporio's response too. ]

[Honestly he'd tuck his pearl into the helmet- makes a handy pseudo bag, that- but given what they're about to be doing he's probably going to need it.

The pearl gets itself a nice safe spot at the side, and from there the cubone shakes his head.]

I can pretty confidently say 'no'. I know a lot of the others were having...some pretty explosive reactions earlier in January, [he hums, tail swaying a bit behind him,] ...But the most I ever heard was that my tail was distracting, which doesn't really count...

[ that's tail whip little guy- ]

Is there any good way to know what someone should be capable of..?

Mmm, well...I am not personally very familiar with Cubone's early moveset. But I would be surprised if you did not know at least a weak ground-type attack.

[Mud-Slap, maybe even just Sand Attack?]

[ he has to think for a moment before shaking his head a little. ]

Don't remember really seeing them wild in Unova. Marowak, yes. Lower level Cubone, not so much.

[ which is a little interesting when he thinks about it, but maybe it's just that they keep much further away and out of sight, out of places they'd likely be found easily. since. well. Mandibuzz. ]

Hmm. Headbutt: likely, with the skull on. Probably a few instinctual status moves? Growl and Tail Whip. Smaller, lower level Pokemon often have at least one move that helps lower aggression. Probably a weak ground move like you said. I would say maybe also Bone Club, but...

[ Emmet cocks his head. ]

Wonder if he could improvise something else?

[He might not hear that musing, but just that bit about not really seeing cubone at all makes sense. Hide the kids, there's birds about.]

Headbutting things would definitely give this more use...

[So he mutters while flipping the helmet on in one smooth motion.

Finally something normal for the boys.] I guess I could...try charging something?

Uh...

[Tail...whip...] What makes 'Tail Whip' status related?

It lowers your opponent's defense! Status moves are not just obvious status ailments such as poisoning or paralysis! They are any moves that do not cause direct damage! So lowering the opponent's stats or increasing your own are also examples of status moves! There are also a number that involve altering the battlefield - you might be able to learn Stealth Rock and Sandstorm, though you would likely need special tutoring. The former causes hazards for the opponent in the form of floating sharp rocks, and Sandstorm is just that.

[oh he just goes off, huh]

Headbutt would not affect either of us, since we are ghost-types. Perhaps you could try it on a tree! Smaller Pokemon often do that to knock berries down!

Wagging a tail cutely usually works well to distract. Makes them less focused on fighting you properly, leaves them open. Relatively easy to perform without experience probably.

[ thus the comment about how babies low level mons usually know at least something along those lines. ]

But yes. If you tried to Headbutt us you would go right through.

[Some might assume that Emporio does not, in fact, see, but he has absorbed a surprising amount of what was just said!]

Uh, g...got it. I wouldn't have guessed that...

[Well. Helmet on, he looks toward the trees now.] Headbutting trees at least sounds like a good way to keep from hurting anyone while testing it, I guess. Do I just...run at it?

Essentially! Just charge it with your head lowered! And, yes, the helmet certainly helps...

Kind of makes you wonder why it isn't Skull Bash for Cubone and Marowak...

[ like, just look at them? a question left up for the professors to figure out, apparently.

Th-that was my theory about why I'd even have something like this at least so...

[He won't try it peeled! He won't! He won't!!

But alright. He's got his helmet in place. He's got a tree in his line of sight! He takes a deep breath. He's doing it. He's going to do it!!!

He's running for it!!! AND!!!

[So goes the repeated mutter.]

That could be so much head trauma...so much, it could still go through the helmet...

[Awwww chin up lil buddy.]

Do not worry! You are built for that sort of thing!

[At least, it's a common enough attack that never seems to cause any recoil damage!]

Pokemon are verrrry sturdy.

But if you want I can also throw myself at the tree first. I do not know Headbutt but you can pretend that U-turn is similar.

[ Emmet, no. ]

Uhhh-

[He's torn between 'sure, demonstrate' and 'those things don't sound remotely similar please do not do that'.

But, swallowing, he nods and backs up to try again. And this time-]

The tree shudders. Nothing falls from it, but Emporio clearly hasn't suffered any weird reverb or side effect as he just looks up at the sound of the rustling leaves.]

....oh. ...you weren't exaggerating about sturdy.

[Is...He thinks there's a dent in that tree. A smoll, cubone helmet sized dent.

Wow.]

[Ingo rears up briefly on his hind legs to call this out.]

Very well aimed! Often, if you hit an enemy with that move right, you will be able to make them flinch! It's an excellent way to gain an advantage!

[outbounds]

[ don't mind him he's basically just clapping enthusiastically. best approximation of it he can manage with these paws and the pearl in hand (claw??????) anyway. ]

[It sounds like it should be obvious.]

Like...it'll stun them for a minute?

[That makes sense. He can think of a lot of things that would probably get stunned if they were hit like that.]

Just so! It can knock the wind out of you!

[Of course he's been headbutted by Pokemon, honestly who hasn't]

Being able to get another attack in while they're recovering is a good way to gain an advantage.

[ beat. ]

Or you can just use the chance to run away I guess. That would work too if you do not really want to fight. Headbutt does not always cause something to flinch though so you will have to be careful.

It definitely seems like it'd have that effect, yeah...

[Ah, but this extra bit that Emmet is warning him about sounds familiar. Emporio just nods, like it all makes total sense.

Maybe it does.] Right. Because some pokemon might be too unflappable, or durable.

[Yeah sure that though technically the pokemas skill unflappable-]

I'll probably use it to run away, but at least it's an option I have now! This is already really helpful!
