[ There seem to be two Pokemon on this dispatch! You get a sense of both a Hisuian Typhlosion AND a Hisuian Zoroark, though the perspective is a little dizzying before settling down into (mostly) one psychic perspective. The Typhlosion's, probably; it's mostly his perspective with a vague sense of what he thinks he looks like now. Psychic pearls are hard, who knew? ]

Good afternoon, fellow passengers! I am Ingo, and this is Emmet - my brother.

[ So so smooth, it comes so naturally to introduce someone as his family member! ]

We are both from a world with Pokemon originally! We were humans there, and I'm afraid we do not have any idea how this might have happened - this is not the sort of thing that is supposed to be possible! But we would like to offer our help in navigating these new tracks! Between the two of us, we can help to identify your species and typing, as well as other facts about your new forms! We are also both very familiar with Pokemon battling! If you wish to learn to fight, we can provide assistance! I'm very excited to have battles in this new way, and the more people who can participate, the more fun it will be!

If you would like to speak in person, we are both in the Oran Berry Guild!

[ The perspective warps and shifts a bit, as you see Emmet moving forward, and also Emmet's own perspective as he does so. ]

— I am Emmet. What Ingo says is true! Yup! But also, we are willing to come to you if necessary? It would not be a good idea to start a battle near any housing, after all.

[ Emmet, it seems, is a man of much fewer words than his brother! At least when they're in the same space, anyway. His address is also smooth, very smooth, picking up after Ingo's like clockwork.

... for those who have already met them both and / or have heard at least some amount of their circumstances already, isn't there some kind of explanation missing? Oh well, must not be important. ]

(( Responses may come from either or both of them! ))

Can all Pokemon really fight? So far all I can do is …

[ Stufful uses Baby Doll Eyes! ]

[ There’s a tired sigh at the ‘awwww’ - apparently he’s had quite enough of that already. ]

Tackle … so just … jumping on things? Is that really all there is to it?

I think I'm best off just ... avoiding battles if I can.

Is there anything you can tell me about my species? Does it evolve?

[ Preferably into something less cute?? ]

Larger would be good ... within reason.

[ One of the upsides to his switch from Miltank to Stufful was finally fitting in his bed at the guild. ]

I can stand on my back legs for short periods, but it's been weird having to mostly move around on all fours.

[ Another thing he can commiserate with. ]

Only really being able to carry things in my mouth isn’t great either. I feel like I’m not even very useful with gathering assignments.

[ It has been suggested he ‘abuse his cuteness’ to influence others - like any self-respecting teenage boy he’d rather keel over, thank you. ]

... almost every Pokémon can fight. To some extent.

[ he's now thinking of edge cases like low level Magikarp, Pyukumuku, and also how cute that was wait what.

(It works over telepathy???) ]

It’s hard not to be incredulous when I look like a stuffed animal. I don’t exactly feel intimidating.

You'd be surprised. Many Pokémon are cute. Not very intimidating.

Doesn't mean they can't fight if they need to.

I guess I have seen more cute Pokémon than scary ones.

[ Considering his first encounters were with a Nidoran and a Jigglypuff. ]

Why is fighting so important, anyway?

[ without missing a beat: ] It's fun.

[ said, with unrepentant cheer both through the more direct mental connection and also audibly through whatever bleedthrough of Ingo's half of the telepathic sight sharing permits. unfortunately, Junpei, you are talking to a Battle Facility Head. the lot of them are frequently adrenaline junkies.

but he does dial it back a notch before continuing with: ]

Many Pokémon learn by doing. Gaining experience. Figure that might also transfer over for us. Battling, figuring out moves, testing oneself— is a way of learning these bodies and getting more used to them.

But you do not have to if you do not want.
moondregs: (to ugly duckling girls like me)

[personal profile] moondregs 2025-02-17 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Back home I avoided fighting. Most guys were going to be stronger than me anyway.

[ He doesn’t know how well the ‘just take it until they get bored’ method will work here. ]

It’s hard for me to think of it as fun.
outbounds: (spite)

[personal profile] outbounds 2025-02-20 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh.

[ There's a beat, probably, as Emmet mentally recalibrates. ]

Those kinds of fights. [ All very uneven, where one side doesn't want it, huh. Bullying, in other words. ] No fun at all. Okay. That is fair. No shame in avoiding those. Battles where one side is clearly at an unfair advantage and therefore cannot be serious are not fun.

Yeah, I've gotten the impression those fights aren't like the ones here, but old habits die hard. I wasn't much into athletics in general.

[ Which makes it all the funnier he became a Fighting type. ]

I guess it would be different if I found someone on my level to practice with. Knowing we can stop if I need to ... that may help.
outbounds: but i think i just got lucky. (winning. i like winning.)

[personal profile] outbounds 2025-02-24 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. But you did not become a Psychic type. Interesting type you did end up with considering. At least when you evolve anyway.

[ there are some fighting types who might be a bit more relaxed or cerebral than others, but all in all it's generally a very physical, active type... ]

Well. If it helps. We are all pretty much the same right now. As far as knowing how to conduct these bodies goes, that is. Many of us are in your situation: new shape, base stage, no pre-existing familiarity with Pokemon.
