video, at the end of october
[A weird, half-dead sunflower seed with dilated eyes and sweat rolling down its shell appears, shouting at you from the clinic.]
THE VOTE IS CLOSE!!!!!!! VOTE FOR UMBREON NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[He grabs the Grumpearl with a vine.]
DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT VOTING FOR LURANTIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[Nurse Chansey from the clinic visibly tries to wrestle the Grumpearl away from him. He shouts various curses that Emporio taught him. You may or may not have a headache now.]

At least he's not making a death threat to the whole Bay this time, so it could be worse.

[ If it's the local tradition to get mind-controlled by someone specific for a month every so often, then maybe it's rude to try interfering too much with that?? He understands the resistance to having people be mind controlled, but also... ]

[ Putting it lightly, but Laios is absolutely not going to rock that boat. ]
Mm. I've heard that too. About Malamar, I mean. But I don't know... Froslass didn't give some of us much of a choice with her festival either.

[ Lots to think about, there. ]
unfortunately, I suspect the locals see the mind control as a part of the festival. I can see why people objected to it - hell, I stayed on the fringes despite an explicit invitation to go visit the Outpost. but there had to be a better way to express *our* discomfort with that aspect without *attacking* their festivities.
...then again, I may be underestimating how much pokemon are willing to decide via impromptu battle. maybe Malamar wasn't being rude after all.

[ All this to say: some festivals aren't for everyone. ]
Heh. And you say that, but I don't think I ever saw Malamar and Froslass have a proper battle that whole time!
