[ Perrin is still suffering from the nightmares, mind you, with this being the last day of them. So that's why this message first goes out quite late at night. Oddly enough, the message seems quite focused, though. Perrin knows how to handle his brain. But his voice is choppy, each word practiced. There's also a slight echo. (In real life, he is saying each word out loud before saying it in telepathy.) ]

--didn't know being a psyker was something technology could help with. Which is pretty impressive.

I know those were real people. Pokemon? Those guys who vanished. It's not like when I see people and then I'm the only one seeing them.

I know the doctor said they'd keep records, but we should too. Keep our own, I mean - and we can also figure out if there's a connection between us. First thing's first.

Where are you all from? I've heard that not all of you are American. Or from the same time as me - oh, that's right. I'm from the year 2281. [ Oops, his thoughts are spiraling. He's not saying this part out loud in real life, anymore. And sounding more casual. ] You know, it's pretty fascinating to meet people who are pre-War. I would have thought you would have been a lot weirder, but you're just like me. Without the survival instints, I mean. I wonder if it's true that people were just the same, and it was the governments and corporations that wanted to mess stuff up. Oh, but they didn't cause the Resource Wars, the lack of resources did... sometimes wish I'd read more up on history. I mean, pre-War history. Not just shit that happened near to me.

[ He seems to have forgotten this is telepathy and his thoughts are being broadcast for a while. Until-- ] Oh. Right. So I'm gonna be keeping a list of us. Uh, in a book. We don't have terminals here, and terminals could get messed up if some of the electricity messed up or if we forgot the password. And I'm not the best hacker. I'm also not the best at lockpicking, honestly.

So! Guess this is me asking about your home and what year you're from!

[[ This post can also be used as a mingle post, if wanted! The OOC post for the record keeping is here. Perrin will let anybody check it out, which is why he hasn't listed his real name in it. ]]

[Ah, he gets the feeling this is no longer his conversation he supposes. Emporio looks between the two again, fidgeting on the spot.]

...I'm not sure that part's important, [He finally says quietly.]

If they were important, and they're gone, that's more important isn't it..?
improvking: (crazyface)

cw: mention of mass murder/human sacrifice

[personal profile] improvking 2025-02-12 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ The Ring-Spirit cackles. Emporio gets it! ]

Mn, they weren't "good" at all~. More like "a plague upon the land", h-heheheh... all thieves and tombrobbers, you see. It's why our good Pharaoh picked us, after all... He needed a sacrifice. Needed ~unwanted~ people for his fancy arts-n-crafts project.

I lived with their still-screaming souls for 3000 years.

...And then what does he do. Doesn't even wave his hands, just vanishes 'em. No problems here! No harm, no foul! Nothing to see! Pharaohs never done a-ny-thing wrong!

[ He laughs again, and this time it's more than a tinge hysteric. It's probably a good thing he's not using his Pearl right now.

He knows now it was more complicated than just "the Pharaoh said 'do it'" but... he doesn't care. Especially with what ended up happening to the Items. It matters even less to him if the pharaoh who ordered their creation and the pharaoh who unmade them were different guys - the Pharaoh's the Pharaoh.
]

They were still there! When I disappeared, I wound up here! But where are they? What happened to them?!

cw: ...nonexistence? existentialism? ...death and grief? how do I tag this help

[personal profile] seacub 2025-02-12 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Emporio, needless to say, sucks in a breath- it's only a hunch, but he's pretty sure that might not have been the best response to whatever breakdown the Ring Spirit is having.

Still, keeping quiet won't make it much better either, not when there isn't a Weather to do the calming, or a Foo to do the distracting, or...

Or....
]

...do you think if someone was just...Gone, they'd be able to rest?
improvking: (m'not pouting fuck off)

cw: continuing existentialism??

[personal profile] improvking 2025-02-12 09:08 am (UTC)(link)
[ After a few more peals of hysterical cackles, he goes quiet, and at first there's no sign whether he's heard his companions. After a bit of silence though, he sighs and slouches further into the corner. ]

...Hm. Rest?

[ He sounds a lot calmer now at any rate, if slightly more tired. ]

...You know, I have no idea anymore. I always thought true oblivion would be the worst that could happen to you... certainly that's what the priests always said awaited the truly wicked. But then, the gods have always weighted the scales, cheating in whoever they wanted... tch.

[ He's bitter about that, but there's no energy to it right now. Just weary bitterness. ]

Oblivion... I'm not sure what to think of it anymore. I was also erased, in pretty much the same way and... I'm here now. I shouldn't be anywhere, be anything, but I'm here, and this thing.

[ He ponders that a bit, then peers up at Perrin. ]

You really think they might have made it through too?

[ Even if they are somewhere out there, he has no idea if they'd recognize him, or - worse - if they might fully recognize him, his nature, and hate him for it. But the idea that they aren't just gone is tempting. ]
seacub: (who put baby in the trash)

[personal profile] seacub 2025-02-12 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
Er....

[He feels like he might have heard that bit of latin, but he can't be sure. Mostly he keeps thinking of the Burning Man, but that's definitely not what Perrin's referring to.

Probably.

He'll focus on the Priests stuff.
] ...Well, if your Egypt was anything like what was recorded about mine...it makes sense that they thought that was the worst thing. To the ancient Egyptians, being forgotten was as good as being removed from existence- and they were kind of focused on immortality through memory and persistence. It's why removing someone's name was such a big deal; you were effectively removing someone from existence entirely in the process.

...Thing is though, if that was how it worked... ...you remembering something would automatically prevent that anyway.

[...And anyway. He looks down.] ...it'd be nice if it worked that way I guess.

[If just remembering meant anyone lost was still around somewhere...well.]
improvking: (say what now)

[personal profile] improvking 2025-02-12 09:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Out of sight, out of mind" - of course it works, why do you think everyone's so big on killing witnesses?

[ That could be a dark joke, but he uh. sounds completely serious about it actually. ]
seacub: (AND NOW A PIPE TOO??)

[personal profile] seacub 2025-02-12 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
That's why forensics exists, [he can't help but counter, turning his attention back to the paper.]

...Either way, you do still have that memory now.

[It's for RS, those words, but it's still worth noting in general perhaps.]
improvking: (are you SURE you're trying?)

[personal profile] improvking 2025-02-12 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
H-heh... it's not that hard to convince people to play along nothing bad's happened. People love to pretend everything's great. And if they've forgotten, they stop being witnesses~.

[ A hint of humor returning to him. He feels oddly like he removed some sort of heavy backpack he hadn't noticed he was carrying? Still exhausted, but the atmosphere's less oppressive. Weird. ]

Writing things down is a good idea. ...Using stone might be better for the finalized records though.

[ Paper fragile! ]
improvking: (disappointment)

[ He makes a noncommittal noise towards Emporio. ]

I remember them as screaming in endless pain. If they got to exist somewhere... maybe they'd actually get a chance to... stop hurting.

I suppose what I want can't change anything at this point though.

[personal profile] seacub 2025-02-12 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
....You'd be surprised what murders have come to light after thousands of years.

[He's looking at you Ötzi....keep on keeping on you funky murdered alps-man....]

...I guess that's the difference for people who believe in somewhere 'after', really, [he finishes a bit quietly.

Maybe they'd be better off talking about something other than the dead. Like, paper and stone and writing.
]

Mnnh, that's a good point though. ...Maybe we should ask if there's a slate and some chalk we can use? Then it'd be reusable, easy to clear and redo mistakes...
improvking: (is there a point? are you getting to it?)

[personal profile] improvking 2025-02-12 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[ The Ring-Spirit snorts at Emporio's first comment. ]

Compared to how many murders happen? It's not statistically likely...

[ But that's neither here nor there. ]

Mn, slate might be easier for you to use at this stage; I agree early drafts are important, but like you said, your claws...

I'm just saying...

[Bro he grew up in a prison, he knows about how much goes under the radar-]

Oh, yeah. Polteageist might know something... ...I think we're the only three that were picked out of the group of 'not-technically-pokemon' to join, actually.

[A Beat. And-]

...I like him. He's definitely someone with his own plans, but he's honest about them- and at the very least, the end goal is keeping this town going.

[He likes that.]
improvking: (hm)

[personal profile] improvking 2025-02-27 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
[ The Ring-Spirit hums to himself when the subject of Polteageist is broached. ]

Mn, Polteageist's both smart and sensible - and direct as well, a far less common combination than it could be... Got that vibe of being someone you can really work with, but who isn't going to keep you on a leash either.
seacub: (AND NOW A PIPE TOO??)

[personal profile] seacub 2025-03-11 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
I like to think so at least?

[He's a bit confused now!] He told me a little about how the town was founded anyway, which was interesting to know. It's kind of like a refugee colony, actually.
improvking: (chattin')

[personal profile] improvking 2025-03-12 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
H-heheheh... or can be relied on to get jobs done, at least~

[ The Ring-Spirit's amused by the idea of anyone considering him a "reliable sort" - but especially anyone who strikes him as canny as Polteageist does... if he had to guess, there's a different thread they all share in common.

He's intrigued by Emporio's addition though.
]

Oh? His approach with me was more of a business offer... didn't talk about the town. Did he tell you what they're refugees from?
