[ It's a Longest Night/Shortest Day/Yule miracle, Dolly is finally using the Grumpearl after her less than savory experiences with it prior! Either that or Dolly is the kind to watch and learn from others before attempting a proper Grumpearl video on her own that wasn't broadcasting an entire broadway production like before. ]

[ Dolly seems pretty excited though as she appears on the Grumpearl as she brings up this glitter covered, ornate looking brass object as she holds it up by its red cords. ]

My astrolabe just appeared next to me this morning! I don't know how or even why it got smaller, but I'm thrilled! Who wants to test run it for the next Stargazing Club meeting?

[ There's a pause as a stream of glitter comes pouring out from the astrolabe...yeah that glitter is insidious...so much glitter...is this even safe to be this glittery? Dolly looked pretty concerned by the sudden glitter down pour! It would put a preteen accessory shop to shame right now with all that shimmer. ]

Got any tips on how to remove the glitter? As much as I'd like to take a shine to the new look, I think I'd like the glitter to come off.

[ The magical moment of getting to teach is a strong one with Dolly as she lights up at the question big time. ]

It's the coolest thing ever, the astrolabe is a great tool for measuring the distances with stars for both mapping and navigating. It also doubles as a calendar as well keeping track of the year as well as lunar cycles and zodiac.

[ It's pretty adorable how excited Dolly is being as she goes to use her ribbon feelers to show Aegiomon how the astrolabe works. She goes to show the discs inside of the astrolabe which is a pretty shade of blue with shiny gemstones inside of it for the stars. More glitter comes out to attack ahhhhh! ]

What's even cooler is it's like having a mini star chart on hand to calculate accurately with as well solve astronomical problems when working with it. I have a few discs for Earth's night skies, but I'm hoping to make some of this world's night skies soon too.

[That's...way more than what he expected something like that to do. More importantly, it has to do with stars. Which makes sense, now that he thinks about it, considering she said she wanted to take it to the Stargazing Club meeting.]

[Or, well, the distance with stars. As she mentions her Earth sky discs, Aegiomon hesitates a little. Don't get him wrong, he is definitely interested, but...]

So...your Earth discs... Would they happen to have the same stars that make up the constellations?

[...Yes, just "the constellations." In his defense, he only had a very brief explanation on what a constellation is, but it's still a very important topic to him.]

It sure can! It can measure stars and even planets, it's such an awesome thing too.

[ Dolly tilts her head a little bit as she listens to Aegiomon ask the question. Was this Aegiomon's first time hearing about the constellations? ]

They do and the constellations are really neat too, especially with the star maps. Some of them have incredibly fun stories like Pegasus while others are neat animals like Pisces which are a pair of fish or Vulpecula which is a little fox constellation. There's also funny constellations that were left out over time like a three headed snake in a bouquet called 'Cerberus'.

[ A question does come to mind as a reminder to Dolly to check the Archives later for.. ]

I do wonder what the constellations are for the Pokemon World though...I bet they have some pretty neat ones along with stories to go with it.

[Pegasus? Cerberus? He knows Pegausmon and Cerberusmon... That's so weird, maybe Inori's theory that old legends were actually the recollections of ancient humans stumbling into the Digital World isn't too far off.]

Inori—I mean...my friend told me that there were all sorts of constellations based on heroes. D-Do you...have any of those? I never got a chance to learn about them, it'd be nice to just...know. ...You know?

[She brings up a good point, though. They are in a totally new world, so the constellations are probably just as different here. Dang, he never once thought to look into the constellations in Iliad yet, he'd have to get on that when he gets back.]

They're probably all gonna be based on Pokémon, right? That's gotta be cool, imagine being the same Pokémon as a constellation.

[ Oh dear, yeah Dolly is more than happy to step in and teach Aegiomon constellations. She wonders if Inori was going to tell Aegiomon what they were before he ended up in the Pokemon World though. ]

I do, I'm more than happy to share them to you. There's Hercules that had to do twelve labors, there's Orion who was one of the greatest hunters, and I think Ursa Major is based on Atalanta another great hunter. Of course, there's a set of constellations that gives two stories for the price of one, Andromeda, Cepheus, Cassiopeia, Cetus, Perseus, and Pegasus.

[ That does sound really cool, Dolly wonders if the Pokemon Constellations had stories too like the ones in the Archives? Dolly is definitely making plans now for the Archives later for this, she was fully curious now. ]

I think so too, it would make sense that the constellations here would be based on Pokemon. It'd be pretty awesome if one of us did share the same Pokemon as a constellation.

Absolutely, I'll be bringing the astrolabe with me to show the constellations on it with their associated stories during the next Stargazing club meeting. Is there a story in particular you'd like to hear?

[ Might as well prepare for that one and get up the discs that shows one of the constellations with stories involved. ]

[ Oh that is precious, Dolly smiles at that as she carefully thought that glitter is tenacious as can be coming out, goes to get up the disc that has the constellation for Pegasus on it. ]

Sure, that sounds like a deal to me, Pegasus is part of the two for one stories I mentioned too.

[ Dolly finally heard the 'mon' at the end of the name and perks up. This was awesome, she was meeting another Digimon too after meeting Guilmon?]

[ He could... offer to be an alternative to canned air, but that comes with the very real possibility of breaking it. He shakes his head a bit, like a dog covered in water, only for specks of glitter to fly off instead. ]

I'm still trying to get all this shit off myself.

That's a really good idea, there's some crevices in there that would be hard to pick the glitter out by hand.

[ Oh no poor Bigby! Dolly is definitely going to give a paw in helping him out with the glitter explosion...like its all over the place...Is it the Y2K New Years Eve all over again?]

I'll help you out with getting the glitter off your fur, I had to do something similar with Babs a few years back.

Tough part is the static. [ Case in point. He picks off a piece from himself before trying to shake it off his paw, only for it stay clinging onto him. ] Think I have more on me than when I first woke up. [ He sighs, though more out of amusement than annoyance for now. ]

Babs your pet back home?

[ That definitely is a challenge as Dolly thinks a bit. The tiny Sylveon was lucky she had fur that could be bathed in water. ] A dust bath may help with the static, it'd act a bit like an insulation against it to get some of the glitter out through brushing. That should help a bit right there.

[ There's a soft chuckle as Dolly gets up a mental image up of Babylon for Bigby to see. Babs appears to be a tiny plush doll fox that's excitedly bouncing up and down talking about something that she saw on TV. This is the most cinnamon roll coded fox out there... ]

Babylon is one of my familiars back where I came from. Babs got a little excited during a doll repair project and ended up with glitter all over herself. A brushing and having the hair dryer set on cool got it out rather easily.

Also could work... [ He makes a bit of a face. Not that a dust bath is a bad idea, but dirt and him don't usually mix. Just Electric-type things. Still, he smiles a bit soon after, seeing this Babs in question. Cute little thing, until he remembers he's also a cute little thing currently. Apt comparison, he supposes. ] Guess that means I should stand in a wind tunnel for a bit too.

[ His ears flick off some more glitter. ]

... You miss them? Your familiars, I mean.

It could, another option would be sand which is safer due to low particles to inhale during the cleaning process. [ Dolly wasn't about to bring up the no water baths for hamsters rule...that would just cause horrible anxiety otherwise..]

I still think a careful brushing can do the trick, but if there's a wind tunnel, I would encourage that one.

[ Babylon really is a cute little thing as Dolly smiles a bit. She really missed all three of her familiars immensely, not sure what they're doing after blacking out and then arriving in the Pokemon World. Dolly was thankful though they didn't arrive with her during the time of Froslass, that one was a nightmare in of itself. ]

I do, I miss Babs, Ava, and Cur a lot. I'm hoping they're doing alright while I'm away, though I know for sure Curly would've attempted to eat the grumpearl if given the chance.

[ Sand seems to land a bit easier for him. As good as he's gotten at the self-grooming thing rodents tend to do — which is a whole other can of worms he doesn't want to think about — it's proving to be no match for all this glitter. ]

I'm sure they'd fit right in around here. [ Cute and cuddly seem to be the theme for most Pokémon. He smiles, trying to be reassuring. ] But it's probably safer for them to be home, away from choking hazards.

I think so too, they'd probably get a kick out of the Archives. The clay tablets there are incredibly close to what the tuppi was in ancient Mesopotamia, they'd get a kick out of it. [ There's a chuckle as it's too true... ] Absolutely, I don't know how well I could even protect them like this, though not sure about the choking hazards. Curly likes to eat weird things at times like a set of Barbie accessories at one point.

[ It was horribly true, Curly did in fact eat a set of Barbie mini accessories, the soft plastic texture was a siren call of sorts. ] Would you like to meet up at the Archives for glitter removal?

[ The connections ends as Bigby makes his way over from the Spire. He'll get there eventually, once he remembers the best way to her apartment. The knock at the door must be him. ]

[ Despite their usual sort of muted and fuzzy telepathic emotional affect over the pearls, their tone is actually somewhat noticeably curious when they speak up here: ]

An astrolabe ... that is a star chart, correct?

Have you found it to match the skies of this world, then, rather than the one you came from? Or is it something that can be adjusted?

[ how do astrolabes actually work, it's not like that was ever important in the Underground. ]

[ Well this was a surprise, Dolly perks up as she notices Chara has entered the grumpearl chat. ]

It definitely does serve as one among other things like making astronomical calculations.

[ There's a rather happy and excited tone to Dolly's voice as she goes to explain her plans. ]

I'm hoping to compare the star chart I made during the meteor shower with the discs in the astrolabe. If it matches up with known constellations, it maybe a sibling of Earth in a way or if it's different, then I have some pretty exciting things to catalog. I have some blanks that I can definitely alter to fit with this world's constellations. I'm hoping that it can be used for navigation as well and maybe even pin point when the next eclipse might be.

I can see the navigational charts being useful for those who would know how to read it.

Come to think of it... Do we have a north star here, actually? What did you manage to observe during the meteor shower?

That's fair, but it should be easy enough to teach along with coming in handy should there be quests involving navigating the water.

[ Ha..ha ha..HA...HAHAHA...yeah..This offworlder is a running champion of sorts in that department...Dolly know a lot of different constellations from different worlds. Though chances are, she's talking about Earth as she carefully gets one of the discs out to compare with the star chart that was made. ]

I noticed that some of them like to change position, so I'll be doing this again to see if there's a rotational pattern to the changes or if it's completely randomized as well as to see if the navigational star is stationary or not.

[ Dolly goes to switch over to the video portion of the grumpearl broadcast to show Chara. ]

Let's find out, now the North Star is somewhere between to where Ursa Major and Cassiopeia is. If we can get a match up from the disc to the star chart, this would confirm the theory. If not, then I'll be doing my homework on which one here would be the navigational star.

It is true, we have not had all that many expeditions need to make their way across the water... [ Just a rescue or a recruit mission, here or there? Very few involving much travel into the open ocean. ] Though as I understand it, that way lies the population those here were trying to flee in the first place, so perhaps this is only to be expected.

[ In any case, they watch along in what is Definitely Not Fascination, shhhh. Perish the thought.

(That's a lie. They like learning new and interesting things, and she's teaching them something interesting.) ]

Changing position though ... it would be one thing if it were rotational as you have said, but if it is completely different the way some of the environs here might be...

[ Then huh. What would that say about this world, that even the skies would rearrange themselves at a moment's whim? It's one thing to explain away the phenomena on the ground as merely illusions cast by its inhabitants (nevermind that that particular theory has not held all that much water for quite some time now), or some sort of fantastic trait intrinsic to certain natural formations here-

The sky, the space between stars- all that's so far away from here. If it, too, changes randomly... what would that mean? ]

We truly haven't, though I suppose it's a 'here there be tigers' deal. I'm curious all the same, sooner or later, someone is bound to ask about sea travels and to see if there's neighboring islands. [ The humans though, that's a concern and one she doesn't have a lot of details on just yet. One thing was for sure, humans do travel, one day, soon, could humans arrive here? All the more reason to start figuring if there's nearby islands. ]

You're right, that's a pretty good deterrent in wanting to figure out the land and water, but at the same time, wouldn't it be better to know if there are neighboring islands?

[ Yep not paying mind to the so totally not interested in this whatsoever as Dolly gleefully goes to explaining some thoughts. ]

There is two theories, first one being these are satellites we're seeing of the Pokemon kind that might dwell up there. It would explain the position changing and could be proven should there not be a pattern involved. All we would need is a stronger telescope, possibly warranting an observatory.

[ Dolly gathers her thoughts a bit for the last one though, that one is going to need some explaining. ]

The other theory though is those are portals if there is a pattern going on. If it matches up to when new arrivals show up, we could have a clue right there, but I'm not entirely sure. It's just a theory for now until proven otherwise.
