video;

I've been thinkin'.

[ Oh! It's not just a rare video feed from Courier Six, but he's out and about on his mail route. He's passing between some homes right now, the view quite nice, as he talks, looking relaxed and toasty in all the gifts he's gotten. His voice is calm and measured, a smile on his dragon mouth, calm as he delivers mostly food between houses. ] Now, I know th'joke about it bein' a bad thing to be thinking.

But some of us have been here for a while. And it's got me wonderin'. What sort of new behaviours have you gotten from the creatures you are? I've seen some of 'em first-hand, but it might be good to chat about 'em. Includin' th'ones we try and ignore. Like th'fucking torpor. Uh-- the fact that lizards try and sleep a lot in the cold. Not every bit of these bodies are fun.

I know there's some of you guys who also try and fight past some of 'em. That hard?

Chat among yourselves if you want, I'm on this route for a while - the daily grind doesn't end. That was a fun debate we had from Akechi, wasn't it? Nature and nurture and what we are, nowadays.

A friend of mine told me that if I had a lot of free time I'd be "alone with my thoughts". [ this is said with a very terrible impression of nyoka impression. ] She was right. It's just, argh.

[ head in her hands. ] Maybe I should try what you do to keep my mind off of it. I'd like to be alone with different thoughts.

If it helps, you can try... not thinking of them as thoughts? It's more of an impulse than something you're actually telling yourself, like when you're hungry or something.

[ His head tilts. What even is the correlation with small pink trolls and steel corvids here. ]

Finding ways to channel that energy elsewhere helps too though.

[ she nods. ]

I'm good enough at ignoring hunger, so that'd probably work in the meantime.

[ do not get mad at her laios that was a survival skill developed out of neccessity. ]

Akechi thinks a training dummy would work, but I think I'm just antsy. Haven't been workin' and all.

[ That gets a disgruntled whine. ] Hopefully you're not ignoring that while you're here... [ Please take care of yourself, Parvati. ]

I agree that training is good, but hammers were made for projects too. Is there anything you've been wanting to make lately? Or... demolish...

[ hey now she is enjoying food and has probably gained some weight! ]

A printing press has crossed my mind, but I both dunno where to put it or if it'd actually be all that useful. Since the Archives do everything on stone, and all. [ you can actually print onto clay with presses, fun fact. but she doesn't know that. ] Why, do you have something in mind?

I'm not really good with those sorts of things. But I was thinking of mapping out my tunnels recently...

[ A thought for another time. ]

A printing press around here would be handy though! Maybe in the Archives? Or somewhere more central, like the post office?

Not sure yet. Maybe both, so everyone can have access to one?

[ they're extremely important devices, after all, and knowing polteageist... yeah. ]

I was thinkin' it could make putting up quests easier for the folk who can't easily hold pens. That sort of thing.

[ As someone who can't easily hold pens anymore, he's fully onboard to support this effort. ]

Sounds like a perfect idea to me. [ He hums to himself, a little amused. ] You'd think they would have thought of something for that already around here... being able to write normally isn't exactly too common.

[ Considering the Pokémon in the Bay act more human-like than not sometimes, after all. ]

Yeah, I've thought it was quite silly. 'Specially considering how important the printing press is to widespread communication without tech. Plus, you can make cool art with it! A few folks back home used one to make fliers for their commune, that sorta thing. Make some postcards to send to Skull Town?

[ it's a simple device that'd get a lot of mileage, she'd just need to get permission and the materials. coming soon to a player quest near you! ]

Exactly! I honestly think writing on paper and journals is just so much more convenient... [ Apologies to the clay tablet enjoyers out there, but he is not about carrying those around. ] It'd be nice to have another way to make art again too. There's only so much I can do with paws.

[ He misses his monster sketches, Parvati. ]

It'd be real nice to see what people do! I'm not an artsy person, really.

[ please ignore her blueprints that are very well-drawn and detailed this isn't about them. ]

Plus, you know, hobbies.

I don't think I'm all that great either, but I do like drawing what I like. It's always pretty relaxing.

[ Just wait until he gets to show off his scarily accurate drawings of monsters to people one day. ]

Maybe you'd be able to make some books instead, Parvati.

[personal profile] edgewater 2026-01-07 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha, books on what, exactly? I ain't exactly a good writer.

[ his scarily accurate drawings of monsters are something parvati would find cool as hell, thank you very much. ]

I doubt anybody would actually wanna read my notes, they make sense to me but not to anyone else. Except Junlei, but we have the same job, so-- [ she stops herself before she goes on yet another gay tirade. ]

Some notes are better than no notes, in my opinion. You can't be the only one who knows how to fix all those pipes you made, Parvati.

What, are you interested in reading my notes? [ seriously laios they're liable to bore you out of your mind at best. ]

Ah, well...

[ He'd be interested in the same way he's interested in Namari talking about weapons, in that he can admire what she has to say while it completely goes over his head. ]

It'd be interesting to have available, that's for sure!
