Video
[As a Meiji era child, keeping on top of all the latest devices can be a bit of a whirlwind. It's an exciting one, though, always getting to learn something new! But for the next iteration of video calls to be.. a magical pearl...
Something feels backwards.
Rather,
Establishing a connection comes too easily the moment Akira thinks of it. Why wouldn't it? It's his own vision at first, a mess of tablets on types, moves and status effects, before he closes his eyes to seamlessly transfer to the grumpearl's perspective. Its holder is revealed to be a Slowking, the one previously bound to the clinic using his newly attained guild status to scour the archives instead. As he reopens his eyes with the view unchanged, he laughs.]
Sorryyy, force of habit.
[Sharing his own sight, and all.]
Anyway!
It seems our bodies are designed for combat, but I'm not really a fan of fighting, myself. So I've been researching Status moves instead.
A lot of them are pretty straightforward, right? Like inflicting and curing basic conditions, or boosting and suppressing our innate strengths. I'm not talking about those. More specifically, I've been learning about Terrains-- large scale effects that benefit friend and foe alike, and seem to have preventative capabilities. It sounds like some Pokemon even form these fields without thinking about it.
[So... On to the point. He soon looks determined.]
Does anyone have one? Can you show me how it works? I'm afraid I'm not strong enough yet to use one myself.
[Or to those more perceptive, maybe Psychic Terrain just isn't what he's searching for.]

Briefly, the shadow of a large fish drifts through his thoughts, but that's a matter for another time.
No, best to stay on track.]
While I lack any terrain moves, I do have a move that increases the speed of myself and my allies for a short amount of time.

But you can support all your friends at once? Is there a range? Or will it apply once they're by your side? That kind of versatility must be great. If you can coordinate with your teammates, your opponents might not know what to watch out for. I'd like to see it in action some time!

[Still, it's a fair question. How to put this...
He tries to create a mental diagram of sorts, with himself, a sprigatito, and a cyndaquil as just an example.]
At any rate, the move effectively whips up a breeze behind all of us, propelling us forward at greater speeds.
[His mental diagram demonstrates this further, by way of showing just that: wings beating, a powerful breeze.]
Anyone nearby benefits from the doubled speed, though I have to repeat it in order to maintain said speed boost. Still, I imagine that even these terrains only work for a limited time.

It's such a powerful looking move from such a small bird!
[He's not.. intentionally making fun of him.]
So once your teammates are in position, they can more or less ride your tailwind. The directional limitations might not be the best for an ambush, but it should be an invaluable asset in turning the tides or escaping! Even a limited duration can be enough if it's used at the right moment.

Thankfully, Akira doesn't linger on that point, so neither shall Akechi.]
I find it works best to utilize Tailwind before the enemy spots us. The added speed allows us to start battles with an immediate edge.
That being said, my research in the Archives brought me to a move called "Trick Room," which seems to completely reverse the speed hierarchy in battle. Slow is fast, fast is slow... Not exactly advantageous for myself, but it is fascinating all the same.

Just like this next move he's hearing of!]
Trick Room? I haven't read about that one yet! I wonder how it's activated. Touch, maybe? [Like his eyes? ... No, he'd tried that back in the forest, and nothing came of it.] Ah, Pokemon seem to be will types, so maybe it's some kind of mental activation instead? I might not even have it, anyway! I wonder if it's something I can learn!

[He partially unfolds one wing for emphasis. It shouldn't be hard to imagine what sort of techniques he specializes in.]

[That's not how magic works. It's how someone too open to criticism works. After a moment,]
As a turban snail now, I should have power over the sea, and an interest in.. [Is hunting the right word? No, that's what the shell attached to him seems to have been attempting. Fascinating! Then.. something else that they're known for...] Sorry, a knack for persuasion? I wonder if that part's what being a Psychic type is?
