And so Akechi fluffs up his feathers a bit and addresses the Pearl at last.]

Greetings. This is Akechi. I realize that this transformation may be a bit alarming, but I thought it best to announce my recent evolution so that no one believes I've disappeared.

This new form is far more suitable, though I wish it hadn't been so overdue. Still, it seems that being put into highly dangerous situations is one way to provoke evolution.

I suppose this does bring up a curious question, though. To evolve, or not to evolve. For me, it was a no brainer, but others may be less enthused about changing their physical forms yet again. Evolution is, after all, irreversible.

So humor me. Do you wish to evolve, or are you content as you are?

...Given the sheer change in size, I can understand the confusion. That is part of why I sought to make a statement.

It's a long time to be stuck in a body that feels too small. A body that isn't technically your own, that leads to those around you underestimating your potential, while others arrive fully evolved.

[He doesn't even try to hide the tinge of bitterness in his words. There are those who were massive upon arrival. What made them so special?]

If you exclude the hammer, I believe so. The hammer certainly amplifies your silhouette and makes you far more imposing.

[Large, blunt weapons tend to do that. It makes a rather profound statement.]

True. Not everyone will evolve, which I'm sure brings its own frustrations and complications. Yet, some may have the potential to undergo even more drastic physical changes.

[Still, those like Bigby are... exceptions, though he certainly won't say that much.]

Those changes aren't as smooth as yours seem to be. I wouldn't call them worth it for most people.

May I ask what exactly happened out there? I never really got around to asking about it just yet.

That seems doesn't seem much more extreme than the difference I saw with human children and adults...

It doubtless helped in her case that as far as being a bird went, she wasn't really that small. Not like some people!

Perhaps not, but it seems to be a staple for Tinkatons, much like Cubones are known to wear their 'mother's' skull.

[He chuckles, thinking of Emporio.]

Obviously, you could leave it behind, but it would put you at a disadvantage on quests.

That would depend on one's personal interests, of course. For instance, a human turned Dratini or Dragonair may look forward to evolving into Dragonite in order to regain lost limbs. A Deino may find the eyesight of Hydreigon appealing despite the awkward middle stage granting them an additional head.

It's really a question of if one craves the advantages their evolved forms bring. Greater strength, stature, perhaps new abilities. A Charizard's wings grant the freedom of flight. An Eevee has so many potential forms to take.

[As he lays out these descriptions, he projects many such evolutionary lines to emphasize his points.]

Personally, I look forward to the Steel typing once I evolve into Corviknight, even if it means I'll be more vulnerable to flames.

Some mistook me for a child. Others believed that my small stature meant I was less capable, less powerful, or needed coddling. Moreover, I was taller than the average Japanese boy prior to coming here, so to change into something so compact while others got to revel in larger and more imposing forms felt like a cosmic insult.
