[Nestled up in his and Ren's room, with his conspiracy wall proudly on display off to the side, Akechi addresses the Pearl with a fluffy blanket wrapped around him. No, it is not cute. Hush.]

Recently, Furfrou went missing. Odile-san, Dolly-san, and I went out to rescue them, and I noticed something all too familiar.

[He draws a breath, slow and soft.]

Whilst we were searching, the intrusive thought, 'They're going to leave me behind!' crept into my mind, and presumably those of my teammates. Moreover, we found Furfrou unconscious, just as what happened before with Zweilous and Phantump.

Given the pattern, I'm certain other groups experienced similar events. I believe it worth sharing our findings, so we can better document this phenomenon and perhaps gain a better understanding.

Those intrusive thoughts in particular seem worthy of cataloguing. It's hardly the first time they've arisen on missions.

It must have been quite terrifying for a being of such power to enter such a violent state...

I did not witness it myself...though, from the frenzies I have seen, I can only imagine.

[ A flash of a large round Pokemon, wreathed in unnatural golden energy, zooming around and shooting off powerful Thunder attacks seemingly at random. ]

Do you think there could be so me overlap between these frenzies and the swarms of wild Pokémon we've dealt with before? I suppose the same question applies to the likes of Ursaluna, Dondozo, and Spiritomb...

[His thoughts trail off for a moment, while he soaks in the image of that electrode. It's so... wooden.]

It seems like a similar effect, but that energy has not been present so far as I have seen...

[ And it's not terribly subtle! Bright golden bolts from the sky, glowing Nobles, and all! ]

[Folding his wings, he sifts through the evidence. The fog, the rain, the berserk attacks, the missing Pokémon...]

Dialga's temporal anomalies would explain some things, but I have to wonder about the fog and the rain, as well as their effects on memories and perception. That seems closer to the domain of a psychic or ghost type, so it's possible there are multiple different phenomena with differing causes.

Quite so! The issues in the forest were caused by multiple Pokemon...though I admit, those effects seemed like quite a bit even from Pokemon as powerful as Ursaluna or Spiritomb.

[ He's not gonna say it's impossible. But he'd have expected that only an exceptionally old specimen, with years of memory and grudges behind it, could affect a whole area and everyone in it so powerfully. ]

What puzzles me is Dondozo. The fog somehow reached the ocean and influenced both it and Tatsugiri...

[The ocean isn't exactly closes to the forest, is it? Something doesn't add up...]

I suppose anything might be happening to the ocean's Pokemon, and we would not necessarily know anything of it.

True. But the fog seemed to match that of the forest, and it eventually receded. That's what I don't understand.

[So... what is the cause? Are there multiple sources? A twitch of irritation accompanies his thoughts.]

I suppose it's not impossible that multiple species could create similar environments, given that weather changing moves exist.

Mmm, yes - they are common enough, especially if any Pokemon here might be able to teach another.

Truthfully, I've wondered if they might be worth learning to make quests in less ideal climates more manageable.

[Heavy Downmoor and Icefall Lake immediately spring to mind, accompanied by a feeling not unlike a shiver.]

The effect does not last forever, or travel consistently alongside the Pokemon as they move. It would be possible, I suppose, but not easy!

[ Otherwise wouldn't everybody just control the weather? ]

It's odd. Some Pokémon seem to simply carry such an ability with them, like Agnes-san. It was quite helpful during our trip to Icefall Lake...

That must be quite uncommon! Unpleasant, too, if they happened to create rain or snow instead of sun...

[ Of course they'd probably be water or ice types themselves, but does anyone really want to carry that kind of weather around themselves at all times? ]

Then there's sandstorms...

[He winces at that fact.]

I'm safe enough when I wear my goggles, but they're certainly inconvenient to contend with.

My team tends to benefit from sandstorms - though I certainly would not now! Regardless, it may be a good idea to see if anyone here can teach Sunny Day. I am not sure I could learn it, being a ghost, but at least some of us might!

I wonder if Ren would benefit from Rain Dance as well. He can change type, but there are situations where grass typing is beneficial...

It would dampen any fire moves used against him!

[ Great for a grass-type! Less so for Ingo, but of course that's just why team composition is important. ]

Rain Dance could benefit you a great deal as well, if you were ever to learn Hurricane! It is an inaccurate move, but using it during an existing storm makes it far easier to control! Though, the same is true of Thunder, so you would have to watch for that!

High risk, high reward... I suppose that's one area where team composition may come into play. Grass resists electric, so Ren would be able to balance out the weakness. Not to mention, Corviknight are weak to fire, so it really would be a sensible investment in the long run.

[ He knows about Corviknight, doesn't he? But the only thread that comes when he tugs on it is, unfortunately, a bit more recent than he wanted. ]

They are native to Galar! I knew a man from there - the only other person in Hisui who could speak Galarian with me!

Do Unova and Galar share a language, then?

[He'd heard bits and pieces about Unova from Emmet. Perhaps they're analogous to regions in his own world...]

More or less! There are differences, apparently.

[ But Laventon thinks more about those things than Ingo himself! He's no longer terribly sure if what he speaks even is proper Unovan anymore; he went so long without using it. ]

That's not surprising. American English and British English have their own subtle differences as well, particularly where certain spellings are concerned.

I suppose it's only natural as languages spread. Our dialect in Hisui is distinct from Johto, and even more so from Kanto or Hoenn - more so as you move farther south.

[ Are Unova and Galar near one another...? He really has no idea. ]

Japan isn't too dissimilar. For instance, the Kansai dialect is very distinct compared to the dialect in Tokyo.

[Perhaps it's simply a natural result of regional differences and customs. He's no linguist, but it's interesting all the same.]
