[The feed opens with a close shot of a very red snout sniffing the Grumpearl, accompanied by warm, curious thoughts.

Judging by his wooden surroundings, he's somewhere among the Cheri Berries.

When he pulls back, he reveals himself as... a Charmeleon, with three spiky scales on each of his cheeks and a big, goofy smile.]

Hmm.

[Guilmon taps the pearl with one of his claws.]

It's shiny... Oh! But Guilmon's supposed to talk. Or think? ...Think about talking? Wah...

[He tilts his head, trying to figure out what to say.

Guilmon isn't small anymore. I think I evolved... That's okay, though. Guilmon's evolved lots of times, and now Guilmon has longer arms and legs and is almost Guilmon-shaped.

[And by Guilmon-shaped, he means... well, a a bipedal red dinosaur with black markings, a white belly, and wing-like ears.

The image accompanying his thoughts starts eating bread. Mountains of bread.]

But now Guilmon's tail is on fire... There's lots of wood here. That seems dangerous, but Ribombee said it's okay for Guilmon to be here. Maybe I can use it to make bread.

[He turns around and looks at his tail.]

Oh! But Guilmon will also work hard! Those quests look important, and there's lots of weird mushrooms now. Maybe Guilmon can burn those, too...

You must be very careful with that tail flame! If it goes out, it will be very bad for your health! [You might like, die? Ingo didn't want to say that, but he doesn't quite manage to restrain the thought.]

I didn't realize you were so similar to your old form! We have something in common, then.

[He sends along a mental image of a bright orange tabby cat with a white muzzle and underbelly. Oh, how he misses being orange.]

Don't worry about the tail too much, trees only catch fire if something really big is burning near them, or the air is really dry for a long time. [He thinks.] But maybe we can put something under it while you're sleeping, so it doesn't leave a burn mark.

[Oh... well, it makes sense. There are very fiery Digimon, but...]

Does that mean Guilmon has to stay inside when it's raining? Swimming's probably a bad idea, too...

Yeah. Guilmon isn't so stubby or small now... But that's normal when you evolve. You almost always get bigger and stronger!

[But ooh, orange... still a cat! That makes sense.

He sends an image of his normal self petting Firepaw's normal self very carefully, since he has big claws.]

Hmm... Maybe a rock would work? Rocks don't really burn.

Bread's the best! Bread, bread bread...

[The thoughts come with a bouncy, singsong voice and images of raining bread. All sorts of bread in different shapes and textures.]

Well...yes, it is probably for the best, if you can.

[He's not entirely sure what wild Charmander and their elders do when it rains; he's never seen any of them in the wild before. They must live much farther south, he thinks.]

Though it ought to be more persistent than an ordinary flame would be! It's not as if they cannot battle, after all!

[His whiskers twitch with amusement - a few months ago the mental image of those claws near his face would make him uncomfortable, but it's funny how quickly one can get used to every Pokemon around them being generally safe.]

Oh, that's true! Although I'm not sure where to get a big, flat rock for it... maybe we should carry sand or pebbles up to make a nest for you.

[Although he doesn't know if that would be comfortable. Hmm...]

Not what I would've expected your favorite food to be.

So it's a strong flame...

[Okay, that makes sense! Guilmon tips his chin down, scratching his cheek.]

But does it still hurt if people touch it? Fire's supposed to be hot....

[guilmon]

Hmm... That's better than leaves.

[He steps away from the pearl to show the nest in his room.]

Sand or rocks might work, but sand's softer... But if Guilmon stacked a bunch of rocks, that might keep the rain out.

[There are leaves above, but leaves aren't the same as a roof...]

How come? Don't you like bread?

[He tilts his head, and a bunch of question marks accompany his thoughts. What else would it be?]

Maybe not as much as you do—but hell yeah, I like bread.

It's just that you're some kinda dragon or something, right? You don't exactly need fangs and claws like that if all you're goin' in on is bread.

[guilmon]

[He blinks a few times, looking down at his claws...]

But Takato always brought Guilmon bread, and Takato made Guilmon look like this with his drawing!

[He pauses.]

...Well, what Guilmon normally looks like.

I didn't know we could evolve so soon after arriving...I've heard of completely changing one's shape to something different after a time, but your form before and your form now are similar enough...

Takato made a drawing of Guilmon, and the blue card made Guilmon real!

[It's said with bright, goofy enthusiasm, as if there is nothing strange about this.]

Or burn them if they're bad mushrooms... It sounds like these ones are dangerous.

[He hums in thought. But maybe they're okay if they're cooked? Decisions, decisions...]

Sometimes Digimon look similar when they evolve and they just get bigger. That's what happened when Guilmon became Growmon!

[Here, he'll even project an image of Growmon, complete with pointy horns and a silver mane.]

But when I Matrix Evolved with Takato, we became Dukemon, and he was more like a knight! But that's okay because we were strong together...

[Emporio's not met Guilmon before, so he'd not know any better about the original look. He does hum quite consideringly though.]

I'm pretty sure you can make just about anything into a bread if if you try...

Though I think a different flame for baking is best. You'd have to keep your tail in the oven otherwise.

[How awkward! Imagine it!

No really, he's imagining just that, that awkward stance beside a kiln style oven.]

...what kind of bread do you know how to bake?

Hmmm...well, some Pokemon with flames on their bodies can control whether or not it burns a person who touches it!

[A flash of a Rapidash through his mind.]

But I am not sure about your species in particular. I have never met one in person! Until now, I suppose - though, this is not really in person either... [He doesn't know what a phone is, this distant communication is still sort of new and weird to him.]

So... you're just some guy's art piece?

Yeah... actually, back in the forest I used to live in, the cats would weave plants together so that they grew into a natural roof. We mostly did it with brambles, then we would tuck moss into the inner parts so that the thorns wouldn't catch our fur.

[He doesn't entirely remember how to do it, but he's sure he could figure it out.]

Although... maybe that wouldn't be helpful for you, your tail might set it on fire. But we could build you a den out of rocks, and put sand on the bottom.

But we are all generally stronger when we work together, whether it be side by side or...Matrix Evolution.

Some Digimon are made of fire... Guilmon's glad he's not, though. Fire isn't fun to hug...

Rocks and sand are good, though. Guilmon had to stay in this hiding spot at the park before, and it was made of stone with a metal gate.
