VOICE - OTA

[A little bit into the month, and Emporio's voice comes through the pearl network. As familiar as ever, and perhaps as nervous as always, he stammers his way through with an aura of anxiety ever permeating his words.]

H-Hi everyone...

[Perhaps he's aware of how it looks, having completely eaten shit in a heavy quest once again.]

I've been slowly talking to everyone in the clinic and getting filled in on...uh. Just what happened...

[Considering the feelings coming through the pearl, yes, that's exactly it.]

I wanted to say thanks again to everyone who came out to rescue us all. I can't really say if it could happen again or not, considering just what did happen, but there's definitely been a lot to learn coming out of it...

..A...anyway...

[There's something of an awkward cough through the audio.] I've, uhh.... ...I've got a lot to work on now that I'm clear to leave the clinic again, but did anyone want to look at the questboard with me maybe? They don't normally have too much happening after a crisis like that, so I'm pretty sure anything there should be safe!

Getting stranded because someone else's teleporter dumped you in the wrong place? Not really much that can be done, besides doing your best to survive.

"I don't know what happened back then, but this time it was because the teleporters somehow went wrong. That's not something you could do anything about, especially if it put you in the middle of a dangerous situation."

She had plenty of experience being put in that position herself.

"But you still held out until help arrived, which is the important part, I think."

I mean I was hoping to find people to partner with on a few quest board postings, but I wasn't sure anyone would be too happy about me going right back to that.

[One would think it difficult to see a blush on an alolan marowak, but, turns out that all that seeming bone is in fact at least somewhat covered with skin, and at least somewhat running with blood vessels, because those cheeks redden RIGHT up!]

[Actually, now that she's saying that-] Did they say why?

"S-still, I mean..."

Well, getting into the weeds of how he messed up is probably not the way to go about this. Even if, well. He does wince.

"...Kind of anyway...we all passed out before help arrived."

The 'again' is unspoken.

"But you still held out until then. People were able to reach you in time, and that wouldn't have been possible if you hadn't managed to keep going on your own for days."

Because it had taken days for the other teams to make their way there for the rescue efforts.

[ eleanor switches to video to reveal she is covered in bandages and wearing a cone of shame. she doesn't look very impressed. she's just gonna let that speak for itself. ]

I'd go with you... Though I'm still not sure what jobs I can help with.

[She didn't know her limits, let alone someone elses.]

"I- I guess so..."

He still feels pretty bad though. Not the least because, well.

People have not been happy! "...That doesn't seem to be how most people are looking at it..."

It might just be him, but it feels more like people are looking at the experience as a reason he shouldn't be on dangerous missions ever.

[He's about to say something very unwise.]

....N...normally if they've broken out the cone, that really means you need to rest...

Well...we could do casual ones. Things like guard post work, or gathering...

[ there's really no hiding the irritation in her voice. ]

Yeah. I know. Why do you think I'm so annoyed? [ she would've whipped out the "yeah no shit" if he wasn't young. it's her own fault but that's not gonna make her less grumpy about it. ]

Ritsuka was new here, she had no idea how other people were taking it.

"M-mostly it's a lot of worrying...I shouldn't be going on heavier quests, that kind of thing..."

He sighs.

"Personally I think as long as I'm careful about who I team up with, it'll be fine..."

There is the slightest edge of annoyance- chances are, team synergy is exactly what caused things to go awry for him this time.

[ just about everyone is asking so it's not as though his question really matters. ]

I got in over my head and tried to take on a group of Carnivines myself.

"That makes sense... That it matters who you're with."

Sometimes there wasn't always a choice, but given a chance to plan, well, Ritsuka knew the importance of picking a good team.

"But I think it'd be better for people to help find ways to make quests safer than worrying about it."

It is pretty nice!

[Though he does sober a bit.] I think the gathering request was for fire hazards though...

[Yikessssss...] H-honestly...

I think that you survived a group of them is impressive enough then..! That's a serious type disadvantage right!?

"S-same... ...I guess I'll find out the next time quest postings go up for anything serious... I know I want to at least try to sign up. I do plenty of reading and studying here, but it feels good to do some of that in the field too!"

"Do you do a lot of the everyday quests? Maybe those can be good practice, or show that you know what you're doing..."

And help with the whole getting out and doing things bit.

Well, it's impressive to me, and I'm not just saying that, [he says with a resolute nod.] I knew someone who set herself on fire to win a fight once. Sometimes it's just about getting through the battle.

[The feeling through the pearl...really is nothing but clear admiration, which probably does a lot better than his words at least. He really really does think Eleanor did something amazing!

I hope so. [ boredom aside, eleanor has basically no good experiences with hospitals and has never quite been able to shake it off in spite of her trust in the clinic's staff otherwise. ] I need fresh air or something.

[Was he that much bigger? It was hard to tell via the pearls... Aelita just had a moment. Um, not sure how to feel about that.

But she giggled as he kept speaking.]

I'd have an easier time reaching things low down.
